Mondays First is the “first” in a series of CSU Writes events sponsored by the Women & Gender Collaborative. The title, “Mondays First,” refers both to the gathering time and to the need for faculty writers to privilege their writing when building and enhancing their careers in academe. Each Monday gathering opens with a gender-aware discussion session about our current writing challenges and successes as well as recent research and findings on writing strategies. This half-hour discussion is then followed by an 80-minute writing session in which participants can write “on their own” yet within a positive and communal space. (Coffee and tea provided)
The very “first” Mondays First of each semester opens with a special session to discuss the campus climate for faculty women and strategies for support. Light breakfast offerings of fruit, yogurt, in addition to coffee and hot tea provided at these first, extended sessions.
“Save the Dates” to your calendar. Bring your writing gear, including any materials–books, articles, data, and more that you’ll need to write for a session. Plan to begin each month of the fall semester with attention to and support for your research and projects within a gender-aware academic writing community.
